What type of coach do I need?

There are thousands of types of coaches in the UK, they come in every shape and size imaginable and often it can be difficult to tell the difference between them. The biggest deciding factor when choosing one will always be the size of your party and how many seats will be required. Typically coaches range from 8 seats all the way up to 100 seats.

The next consideration will be the quality of the coach required. Coaches typically come in standard, executive and super executive varieties:

* Standard coaches will be basic models without any of the trimmings and are mostly suitable for shorter journeys.

* Executive models usually feature an on-board toilet, air recirculation and televisions.

* The super executive models come with all the trimmings and may include leather seating and air conditioning amongst other top-quality features.

The more executive models are obviously more suited for longer journeys as their added comfort increasingly improve the experience.

How much will it cost?

The cost of coach hire depends on a wide variety of factors and it is impossible to give a general rule of thumb in this area. What we can do however is suggests reasons why you a quote you receive may seem too high or too low.

This quote seems very cheap!

You may think you've bagged yourself a bargain but its important to think about what you know about the coach you have been quoted on. Many cheap coach bookings will be a result of travelling in a very old coach, some more than 20 years old. These coaches will have clocked 100,000s of miles and, as a result of this, your experience will be far worse than spending a little extra to get a more modern vehicle.

Furthermore, it is important to make sure a coach operator is 100% clear on what it is you need, if they have not understood your route correctly their quote could be out by £100s.

This quote seems very expensive!

Similarly, make sure the coach operator has understood your requirements clearly. If the price still seems high, tell them this and ask if there's anything special about this individual coach you should know about. The vehicles you could be comparing could be very different.
